CVDA COVID-19 Update #6

Good Afternoon All CVDA Members, Sponsors, and Tournament Directors. Apology for not getting this update out sooner. The President was waiting to get some answers from the state and other personnel plus dealing with a few personal issues. CVDA Board met on 7/29/2020 via Conference call with one board member not in attendance. Below are the key highlights from the meeting/call:

What do we do about incomplete Winter season and the remainder of the 2020 League season? The Board felt at this time our hands were tied and until the state lift the restrictions we could not make a decision until the end of Aug. If no update by the governor then sadly we will have to cancel for the remainder of the year. As soon as that decision is finalized we will update the membership. Along this line, President brought forward a concern from one of our members regarding what will be done with the membership dues already paid for 2020? The Board decided that currently no refunds would be made in 2020 as the COVID-19 Pandemic and the state-mandated restrictions are beyond the CVDA control. With that being said, once a final decision is made about the remainder of the year the CVDA Board will meet again to discuss possible options/considerations as what can be done for our members with respect to 2021 CVDA Membership and Sponsor Fees.

Membership Meeting, Nominations for the New CVDA 2021 Board of Directors and Voting for the 2021 Board of Directors Nominees in December 2020? The Pandemic has challenged All of us and the CVDA is not exempt. State mandatory restrictions have made it difficult to follow our processes outlined in the By-Laws exactly to the letter of the law. As there are no provisions for a Pandemic in our By-Laws, a revision is definitely needed to include provisions to deal with Pandemics/Natural disasters etc. CVDA President has reached out to our Parlimentarium to see how we can be creative to either have virtual meetings and to handle the nomination and voting process. If not the Board of Directors discussed the current Board would remain in place until a special meeting for nominations/elections could take place. More to follow.

There was talk about cancelling the Tournament of Champions slated for Jan 21. More discussions are required before this decision can be finalized. With one key Board member not in attendance on the conference call, the President added this topic as an Agenda item for the next Board meeting. We hope to have a final decision for our members before 1 Nov.

42nd Annual CVDA Dart Classic- The Board is hopeful the easement of the sanctions and the pandemic will be under control and have set a “Save the Date” of 11-13 June 2021 as the date for our Dart Classic Tournament.

Following the conference call. CVDA President reached out to the state of Virginia asking the following questions: 1. Is there an update under Phase III when the restriction of playing darts may be lifted and 2. WIll there be a Phase IV, and if so, an approx time frame? He received a response from The Commerce and Trade Secretary stating: “We have no information as to the duration of Phase Three and have not been given any indication of the next phase.” To that end as previously stated:
1. All League and CVDA activities continue to be suspended until further notice.
2. No sanction CVDA blind draws are authorized.

To the extent you can, we encourage your continued safe support & patronage of our Sponsor Bars.

Any questions/comments please reach out to any board member.

We appreciate your patience, understanding and recognized this is not how any of us expected our 2020 Dart League season to progress.

Thank you and continue to be safe.

Respectfully,
CVDA Board of Directors

Remembering Jeff Dawson

It’s with a sad heart the CVDA reports the passing of Jeff Dawson on Jul 2, 2020. Jeff was a long time member and pioneer of the CVDA. Talented Darter, Friend and Brother to many. Always willing to help with pointers to improve one’s game and fun to be around. He won many Tournaments, was a CVDA All Star Team member for several years, and one of the Originators of the Boo Shoot Weekend Tournament many, many, years ago. Jeff You will definitely be missed.

Please keep his Brother Scott and the entire Dawson Family in your prayers. Please accept our condolences and earnest prayers for Strength, Support, Love and Peace during this time of bereavement. Please share your fun stories/experiences about Jeff Dawson. Say his name and keep his memory alive.

**************************
There will be a Celebration of Life for Jeff Dawson at Omega Bar & Grill on 19 July 2020 @ 2PM. Unfortunately, Under The COVID-19 Phase III Guidelines, Darts are still prohibited so they will be no playing of darts at this gathering.

With Deepest sympathy,
CVDA Board of Directors.

CVDA COVID-19 Update #4

CVDA COVID-19 UPDATE (# 4) -6-12-2020

Good Afternoon All CVDA Members, Sponsors, and Tournament Directors. I hope all are doing well during our continued state of emergency dealing with the COVID-19 Pandemic and the protests throughout the various cities in the Commonwealth.

Board of Directors met this weekend to discuss the way forward with Phase II Opening and some easement of restrictions. Just today now all Sponsors bars are now on Phase II. We discussed and looked at the Executive orders. Due to prohibitions from opening game areas, dance floors, and playground under Phase II we have no choice but to do the following:

1.) All League and CVDA activities continue to be suspended until further notice.

2. No sanction CVDA blind draws are permitted.

3. At the rate things are going, there’s a possibility we may not get back to normal play until Phase III.

4. We encourage All of our members to the extent you can, please continue to patronize and support all of our Sponsor Bars.

The President sent an email to the Virginia Department of Health to clarify if the rule of keeping game areas closed during phase II included the playing of Darts and Pool. He received a response indicating that Yes Darts and Pool areas have to remain closed during Phase II.

We will continue to monitor the situation and provide any updates as they become available. I know many of you are anxious to get back into the bars and start up the competitive dart playing. We the board understand but please understand this decision is to make sure we comply with the law and to make sure we don’t place any of our sponsors in a bad situation and also not to place our members in harm’s way.

Any questions/comments please reach out to any board member.

Thank you and continue to be safe.

Respectfully,

CVDA Board of Directors

CVDA COVID-19 UPDATE #3

Good Afternoon Fellow CVDA members, Sponsors, and Tournament Directors. We hope all are well and you are continuing to practice safe social distancing and enjoying time with your families. With the continued State of Emergency and the Stay at Home order by the Governor of Virginia. All League and CVDA Sanctioned activities still continued to be suspended. The board of Directors met and below are the decisions which were made.

Please keep in mind that all of these are subject to change as the government implements new rules/laws regarding the COVID-19 Pandemic.

1. Sadly the 42 Annual Dart Classic Tournament is canceled.
Reason: We are not certain we will be back to a new norm of social gathering in time enough to hold it. Postponement is not feasible due to several other tournaments that were postponed and rescheduled. Picking a date to avoid conflict with other events is impossible. We are unable to fundraise to raise monies required to host this event. Lastly, COVID-19 Pandemic is also affecting the businesses we solicit for donations and in good conscious cannot ask them for donations with all businesses being affected.

2. Our plan is to finish out the Winter season once we have the CDC and local government go-ahead for social gatherings. The caveat is…as long as our sponsors are up and running as well. In order to complete the 2020 Winter season and have time for another season this year, we would at the latest have to play week 10 NLT 21 & 22 July and then head into the playoffs. The next season would start as stated on the calendar of events in your Team packets.

3. Summer Season is canceled.

Please keep in mind that we didn’t make these decisions lightly and recognize all that is going on is beyond everyone’s control.

4. Please continue to support our Bar sponsor to the extent that You can. Continued prayers for all of you and your families. We will get through this crisis.

The CVDA Board of Directors will provide an update as soon as we have any further information. Thank you all for your understanding and consideration during these rough times. Look to the CVDA Website, Facebook page, and email for further updates. Questions/inquiries/suggestions please send to: bod@cvdadarts.com.

Continue to stay safe at home for those that are not essential and practice proper social distancing and hand sanitation.

DartConnect continues to be a viable option to keep your darting competitive skills up.

Kind regards,
CVDA Board of Directors

League Suspended for Coronavirus

March 16, 2020

Due to the recent CDC’s latest guidance and the state mandate of gathering for the Coronavirus we, the CVDA Board of Directors, have made the difficult decision to suspend all CVDA related play for the next two weeks. The will not only pertain to league play, but also all blind draws and weekend events.
